Useful Information

It is our intention to provide useful reference materials, to help clarify and inform our customers about some of the technical and practical issues that need to be considered when sourcing and installing pumps for liquids. This includes chemical resistance guides to help specify suitable wetted materials for the pump and fittings, guidelines on viscosities of common liquids, information on suction filter sizing and a simple guide explaining the different IP ingress protection ratings.

We have also explained how to select a suitable drum pump or barrel pump and have given some guidance on when to select a positive displacement pump and their installation and operation. We have also clarified why positive displacement pumps should be protected from over-pressure by installing relief valves.

Information is provided on how gear pumps can be used for metering and dosing as well as data on how Hydra-Cell multiple diaphragm pumps perform against the American Petroleum Institute standard reference API 675 for Positive Displacement Pumps - Controlled Volume.
