Useful Information on Pumps & Pumping Systems

Below you will find useful reference materials to help with some of the technical and practical issues that need to be considered when sourcing and installing pumps for liquids. This includes chemical resistance guides to help specify suitable wetted materials for the pump and fittings, guidelines on viscosities of common liquids, information on suction filter sizing and a simple guide explaining the different IP ingress protection ratings as well as guidance on how different pump technologies work.

We have also explained how to select a suitable drum pump or barrel pump and have given some guidance on when to select a positive displacement pump and their installation and operation.

There is also a link at the bottom of the page to a free software download for converting different units that are commonly used by pump engineers.
