Overview

Dickow’s NCL Series are single-stage, single-flow, volute casing pumps designed for handling liquids in the chemical and petrochemical industry, in refineries and for heat transfer liquids.  The pumps can handle acids, alkalis, solvents, hydrocarbons, heat transfer liquids, heavy fuel, liquid sulphur, melted plastics, bitumen etc. Dimensions and performance conform to EN 22858 (ISO 2858)

The NCL series consists of a large range of pump sizes and specifications with a maximum flow rate of 900 m³/hr and maximum differential head to 150 m at 2900 rpm. A selection of construction materials and shaft sealing systems are available.

The pumps have a back pull out design, with an end suction flange and a centreline discharge flange.  In order to take full advantage of the back pull-out design, spacer type couplings are recommended so that the motor can remain bolted to the base plate.  The standard pump casing is cast in one piece and foot mounted on the base plate, sealed to the atmosphere by confined non-asbestos gaskets.

Pumps are also available with heating jackets. Heating jackets on volute and intermediate casings with welded cover are designed for heating liquids up to 220°C.

Centreline-mounted pump casings are available for high temperature applications to minimize problems with coupling misalignment and thermal stress.

Closed impellers are standard. Impellers are cast in one piece with solid hubs.  To minimize the axial load of the bearings, the impellers are fitted with wear rings on the back and balance holes to the suction.  Open impellers, for handling liquids containing solids such as slurries and suspensions, are available with some pump sizes. The replaceable wear rings are held in place by a press fit with locking screws.  Additional impeller wear rings are available as an option.  The running clearances are in accordance with API 610.

The pump shaft is carried by antifriction bearings outside the pumped liquid.  The bearings are oil lubricated with the level regulated by a constant level oiler.  The calculated service life of bearings is in excess of 25000 hours.  Bearing brackets are of split design and can be fitted with a water-cooled jacket.

When fitted with suitable Ex-drive motors, the pumps can be applied in hazardous area Group II, Category 2.  The pumps meet the basic safety and health requirements of Explosion-proof Directive 94/9 EC and are suitable for plants with increased safety requirements.
