FINISH THOMPSON SP SERIES PUMP MODEL SP22V FOR PUMPING SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE

Magnetically coupled pumps at a water treatment facility

The SP series from Finish Thompson Inc. is renowned for its reliability, ease of use, and high operating efficiencies.

These are seal-less, self-priming, magnetically coupled, plastic, centrifugal pumps designed to handle corrosive liquids, including strong acids and alkalis, and can provide suction lifts up to 7.6 metres. When the pump is shut off, the priming chamber’s gooseneck design ensures that enough liquid is retained for efficient re-priming, making this pump the ideal solution for suction lift applications involving corrosive liquids.

In this application at a water treatment facility, the chemical being transferred is 15% Sodium Hypochlorite; a substance where leaks are simply not an option. The model used, the 2” x 2” SP22V, is constructed from PVDF with PTFE bushings. The four units shown below each deliver a flow rate of 26 m³/hr against a 10 m differential head, which includes a 1.5 m suction lift.
