This is an ATEX compliant GC-M35 mag-drive external gear pump from Micropump. This is one of a pair of pumps being supplied to a hydrogen production company for use in their alkaline electrolysers.

Unlike PEM electrolysis, alkaline water electrolysis uses high system pressures, and that is one of the reasons for choosing the Micropump GC series. These pumps can operate at up to 103 bar system pressure, so the 50 bar required on this occasion is no problem for them. They are also more than capable of handling the strong chemicals used in this process, in this case 20% Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) delivered at 10 litres per minute.
