VIKING GEAR PUMP MODEL GG495 FOR PUMPING CASTROL OIL

These two GG495 internal gear pumps from Viking Pump were selected for an application transferring lubricating oil, something that gear pumps handle exceptionally well. However, an added challenge was that the pumps are going to be located outside in ambient temperatures ranging from freezing conditions up to 30°C.

While it is essential that pumps and motors are rated for these conditions, one critical factor not to be overlooked is the effect of temperature on the viscosity of the pumped product. As temperature fluctuates, so does viscosity and that can significantly impact pump performance.

These pumps are close coupled to ATEX zone 1 rated 1.1 kW 4 pole motors and will achieve a flow rate of approximately 35 LPM over a viscosity range of 32 – 400 cP.
